Marit Hætta Øverli has made a amicable departure from the lineup of Jienat. Fliflet continues his sometimes hard-to-follow quest for noise with a cause. A demo DVD is in the works, and preparations for a follow-up to the widely acclaimed and more widely ignored CD Daja is underway.
October 1, 2002:
Jienat will perform in Lakselv kultursal on Friday November 1, 2002 at 19:00. The lineup consists of Marit Hætta Øverli, Andreas Fliflet, Lisbeth Diers, Tira Skamby Madsen and Benita Haastrup. Do not look for female percussionists in Copenhagen that weekend; they will be up here.
October 1, 2002:
The film maker Raymond Mortensen of Alta is currently finishing his documentary about the bleak future of traditional Sami reindeer herding. The sound track is partly remixes from Jienat's CD Daja, and partly created from scratch by Andreas Fliflet.
September 28, 2001:
Andreas Fliflet made an important career move by obtaining the Jumbo Prize in last Thursday's karaoke contest in the establishment Smutthullet, Alta. His interpretation of the Bee Gees classic How Deep Is Your Love left the jury no options. The prize includes a gift cerificate, redeemable at the bar.

Our mission to Narjan-Mar was cancelled, apparently due to unsurmountable logistic problems
September 3, 2001:
Marit Hætta Øverli and Andreas Fliflet of Jienat will perform in Narjan-Mar, Russia, on September 14, as representatives of the County of Finnmark.
June 14, 2001:
Daja is selected by Norsk Kulturråd to be among the roughly 15 % of the records released in Norway that are selected for a one-time purchase by the Norwegian Cultural Council. The copies will be distributed to libraries, cultural centers and Norwegian diplomatic missions abroad.
April 5, 2001:
The CD Daja is CD Of The Month for Etnisk Musikklubb, The Ethnic Music Club of Norway.
February 1, 2001:
Jienat has been invited by Rikskonsertene, The Norwegian National Concert Agency, to tour Norway. The schedule is:

November 17, 2000:
The CD is being manufactured this weeek in Germany, and release date is set to December 3. Do order now; if you hurry you may be able to obtain one of the rare copies of the CD which cover is not signed by the band members. A sure-fire collector's item!
October 13, 2000:
The CD Daja will be sneak-previewed at the opening day of WOMEX World Music Expo in Berlin, October 19.
May 20, 2000:
Mastering is completed by mr. Strype. Some additional radio play of the promo single CD has been made on Radio Netherlands and BBC 3.
April 28, 2000:
The full length CD Daja has been mixed in Oslo by Reidar Skår, and will be mastered by Audun Strype during the first week of May. Release date is not determined, but we've got no reason to prolong the process...
